Mothers Day
I feel like traditions are so important. I grew up with so much excitement for Christmas morning. Then, when I grew up and moved away I bought a house in a downtown area and we’d spend every Halloween with family handing out candy and circling the surrounding streets. We’d have Hocus Pocus on the TV or some classic horror movie and I’d make a big dinner (like lasagna, something easy that could feed a lot of heads). Every birthday when I was a kid my mom would come to pick us up at daycare after work with a bouquet of flowers (it meant so much to me) and we’d go out to dinner (Ponderosa) then my parents would take us to Toys-R-Us to pick out birthday toys (which in my case were always barbies or art supplies). I know by mentioning the store and restaurant is totally going to show my age, but that’s okay. I hold these memories close to this day - I feel very lucky my childhood was full of these little moments that meant so much.
When I became a mother a new tradition came into fruition. Rain or shine, we’d make a trip to a Zoo (Detroit Zoo, Toledo Zoo, Potters Park - we liked to switch it up each year). I’ve been a mom now for 15 years and it’s still a day I look forward to every single year because I love the company.
How do you and your family keep traditions alive?
These are the kids that gave me the mom title.

In 2018 my family grew. Not only did my husband and I have our first child together, but I gained two more kids to call mine!
I know that being a mother is THEE hardest job on the planet, and I know we give so much of ourselves without question. I see you; You’re doing an amazing job. Happy Mothers Day!
